God You are my fortress – Psalm 91

Pray this prayer again. Lift your heart to God. From Songs of Hope on  2012 07 15.  Prayer Psalm 91 verses 1-6 and 14-16

Psalm 91:1-6,14-16

1 Live under the protection
of God Most High
and stay in the shadow
of God All-Powerful.

2 Then you will say to the Lord,
“You are my fortress,
my place of safety;
you are my God,and I trust you.”

3 The Lord will keep you safe
from secret traps
and deadly diseases.

4 He will spread his wings
over you
and keep you secure.
His faithfulness is like
a shield or a city wall.

5 You won’t need to worry
about dangers at night
or arrows during the day.

6 And you won’t fear diseases
that strike in the dark
or sudden disaster at noon.
. . .
14 The Lord says,
“If you love me
and truly know who I am,
I will rescue you
and keep you safe.

15 When you are in trouble,
call out to me.
I will answer and be there
to protect and honor you.

16 You will live a long life
and see my saving power.”

Please listen to me God – Psalm 5

The Psalmist calls to God to hear him. God despises violence. (Program Songs of Hope 2012 07 08, Psalm 5 v 1 to 7)

Psalm 5:1-7

1 Listen, Lord, as I pray!
Pay attention when I groan.

2 You are my King and my God.
Answer my cry for help
because I pray to you.

3 Each morning you listen
to my prayer,
as I bring my requests to you
and wait for your reply.

4 You are not the kind of God
who is pleased with evil.
Sinners can’t stay with you.

5 No one who boasts can stand
in your presence, Lord,
and you hate evil people.

6 You destroy every liar,
and you despise violence
and deceit.

7 Because of your great mercy,
I come to your house, Lord,
and I am filled with wonder
as I bow down
to worship
at your holy temple.
